The Cebu Provincial Government has turned over ₱15.1 million in financial assistance to Toledo City to support city hall improvements, cultural activities and other local development initiatives.
Governor Pamela Baricuatro handed over three checks to Toledo City Mayor Marjorie Perales during a provincial government distribution activity at the Toledo City Sports Complex on Monday, August 17.
Of the total assistance, ₱13 million was allocated for improvements to the Toledo City Hall. Another ₱2 million will support the upcoming Pasidungog sa Pagtuo, while ₱100,000 was earmarked for the Pasundayag activity.
The assistance forms part of the provincial government’s continued support for local government units and their efforts to improve public facilities and strengthen community activities.
₱5M aid for Typhoon Tino victims
The turnover in Toledo City also coincided with the distribution of assistance to residents affected by Typhoon Tino.
A total of 500 typhoon-affected families received ₱10,000 each, amounting to ₱5 million in financial assistance.
The beneficiaries also received 10 kilograms of rice provided by the national government through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
The assistance is intended to help affected families address their immediate needs as they recover from the impact of the typhoon.
Support for Toledo barangays
The provincial government also extended ₱850,000 in assistance to four Toledo City barangays.
The beneficiaries were:
- Canlumampao
- Don Andres Soriano
- Carmen
- Awihao
The funds will support various projects and procurement needs, including tables, chairs, a water system, pathways, sports equipment, office equipment and sociocultural activities.
The Provincial Agriculture Office also turned over a walking-type agricultural tractor with rotary tiller and materials intended to support marine protected areas.
Former Board Members Gigi Sanchez, now a Capitol agriculture consultant, and Jiembo Borgonia also joined the distribution activity.
Balamban barangays receive ₱400,000
The provincial government likewise extended assistance to two barangays in neighboring Balamban.
Gov. Baricuatro turned over a total of ₱400,000 to the barangays of Nangka and Bayong.
The assistance will be used for the construction of a material recovery facility and the purchase of tables, chairs, cabinets, laptops and signages.
The series of assistance turnovers reflects the Cebu Provincial Government’s continuing support for local government units, communities affected by disasters, and barangays undertaking projects to improve basic services and community facilities.
Through the assistance, the Capitol aims to help LGUs address immediate needs while supporting projects and initiatives that contribute to local development.
