Cebu Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro sent off 10 employees from the Cebu Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) Project Management Team for a five-day capacity-building training at the University of the Philippines Diliman.
The training is intended to strengthen the teamβs technical capabilities as the Cebu Provincial Government prepares for the implementation of the Tabang PangByahe Program, a Department of Transportation (DOTr)-funded initiative aimed at improving public transportation services across the province.

The program seeks to encourage bus operators to serve underserved routes by providing incentives, helping expand access to safe, reliable, and more accessible public transportation for communities that need it.
The DOTr has allocated β±20 million for the implementation of the program in Cebu.
The PPDO Project Management Team will undergo the training to enhance its capacity to plan, coordinate, monitor, and support the implementation of the initiative.
The capacity-building activity at UP Diliman is expected to equip the participants with additional knowledge and skills that can help ensure the program is implemented effectively and reaches communities that have limited access to public transportation.
To support the employees participating in the training, Gov. Baricuatro personally provided their training allowance using her own funds.
The initiative is part of the provincial governmentβs efforts to strengthen its project management capabilities while preparing for programs designed to address transportation needs across Cebu.
Through the Tabang PangByahe Program, the provincial government aims to help improve connectivity and mobility by encouraging public transport operators to provide services on routes that remain underserved.
