TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol β As part of SugBohol partnership, Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro said the Sisterhood Agreement will strengthen tourism collaboration. Moreover, it will create more opportunities for communities across Central Visayas.
The governor shared her optimism during the closing ceremony of the 5th Sandugo Tourism and Travel Expo held at Island City Mall in Tagbilaran City on Friday, July 31, following the earlier signing of the partnership agreement between the two provinces.

Baricuatro said the partnership highlights the importance of cooperation among neighboring provinces.
Additionally, it promotes tourism, supports local industries, and creates sustainable opportunities for residents.
“This expo is proof of what can happen when government, communities, and the private sector work hand in hand,” Baricuatro said.
She emphasized that tourism remains a major contributor to employment and economic growth. As part of the SugBohol partnership, sustainability is crucial to the industry’s continued success.

According to the governor, sustainable tourism goes beyond protecting natural attractions. It also means safeguarding the livelihoods of individuals and communities that rely on tourism-related activities.
“Sustainability is not just about protecting our natural wonders. It is about protecting the livelihoods behind every tour, every souvenir, every local delicacy, every cultural performance, and every family whose dreams depend on tourism,” she said.

Baricuatro added that Cebu and Bohol, despite being separate islands, share a common goal of preserving cultural heritage. They aim to expand economic opportunities and showcase Central Visayas as a leading tourism destination in the Philippines.
We may be neighboring islands, but more importantly, we are partnersβpartners in preserving our heritage, creating opportunities, and proving that Central Visayas is one of the most vibrant and welcoming regions in the country, she said.
The SugBohol Sisterhood Agreement aims to strengthen cooperation between Cebu and Bohol through shared tourism initiatives, cultural promotion, and programs that benefit local communities.
The governor was joined during the closing ceremony by Cebu Provincial Board Members Raymond Calderon, Mike Villamor, Malcolm Sanchez, Alfred Ouano, Nilo Seno, Dason Lorenz Lagon, Nelson Mondigo, Lakambini Reluya, and Paz Razgoni.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment between the two provinces to promote sustainable tourism, preserve cultural heritage, and position Central Visayas as a stronger and more competitive tourism region.
