The Cebu Provincial Government brought free legal assistance closer to residents of the Camotes Group of Islands through a two-day Legal Aid Outreach conducted by the Provincial Legal Office (PLO) on July 30 and 31, 2026.
The outreach was part of Governor Pamela Baricuatroβs commitment to making government services more accessible to every Cebuano, particularly communities that face challenges in accessing essential services because of distance and financial constraints.

On the first day, the legal aid activity was held in Barangay Kawit, Municipality of Pilar, where residents received free legal consultations, document notarization, and assistance in preparing affidavits.
Lawyers and personnel from the Provincial Legal Office, together with Doctor and Lawyer Lou Llanes, provided legal guidance and assistance to residents during the outreach.
The initiative allowed beneficiaries to address their legal concerns without having to travel to mainland Cebu or other cities to seek professional assistance.

One beneficiary expressed appreciation to the legal team for bringing the services directly to the island community, saying residents no longer needed to make the trip to the mainland or travel to neighboring Ormoc City to access legal assistance.
Outreach continues in Tudela
The legal aid mission continued on its second day at the Tudela Social Hall, where more residents availed themselves of the free services.
The outreach provided communities with an opportunity to seek immediate legal guidance and complete necessary documents without incurring the costs and travel expenses normally associated with accessing legal services.
The Provincial Legal Office said the initiative forms part of the Cebu Provincial Governmentβs efforts to ensure that residents can access government assistance regardless of where they live.
By bringing legal services directly to island communities, the provincial government aims to reduce barriers caused by distance and financial limitations while ensuring that more Cebuanos are aware of and able to exercise their legal rights.
The two-day outreach in Pilar and Tudela highlights the provincial governmentβs continuing effort to bring essential public services closer to communities across Cebu.
