Around 80 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) from across Cebu gathered at the Cebu Provincial Capitol Grounds on September 11 for the simultaneous National Stop the Bleed Day and Bloodletting Activity.
Gov. Pamela Baricuatro joined the activity in support of efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness right where help is often needed firstβthe community.
Through a seminar and hands-on demonstration led by medical professionals, BHWs learned basic lifesaving techniques for controlling severe bleeding, including direct pressure and the proper use of improvised materials and tourniquets. Selected health centers also received tourniquets for use in their communities.
The activity was conducted in collaboration with the Cebu Provincial Government, Philippine College of Surgeons, Philippine Red Cross, and Trauma Injury and Burn Care Commission.
By equipping Cebuβs frontline community health workers with practical emergency skills, the Province continues to help build safer and better-prepared communities across Cebu. π
