A total of 2,848 habal-habal drivers in Liloan and Compostela received fuel and rice assistance from the Cebu Provincial Government as the Capitol resumed its distribution program aimed at helping transport workers cope with rising operating costs.
Led by Governor Pamela Baricuatro, the provincial government distributed assistance to the first batch of beneficiaries in the two municipalities on Tuesday.

Each qualified driver received ₱3,000 in fuel assistance and 10 kilos of rice.
The first batch consisted of 1,500 drivers from Liloan and 1,348 drivers from Compostela.
The Capitol is scheduled to return to the two municipalities on August 18 for another round of distribution.
Gov. Pam: Capitol will continue helping drivers
Baricuatro said the provincial government remains focused on delivering assistance and essential services to Cebuanos amid rising living costs.
“Dili lalim ang panahon karon. Kuptanay lang sa ta sa bakus tanan, mo-labay ra ni. Trabaho lang sa ko ron. Mangita kog paagi nga makatabang kanunay ninyo,” the governor said.
The assistance is intended to help habal-habal drivers manage fuel expenses and other daily costs associated with their livelihood.
For many drivers, increasing fuel prices and the rising cost of basic commodities have placed additional pressure on their household budgets.
Renante Cagang of Barangay Calero, Liloan, said the assistance would help drivers cope with their growing expenses.
“Lisud gyud ang pagpamasahero ilabi na kay mahal ang pamalitunon dili lang kay ang gasolina,” Cagang said.
San Vicente gets additional support
Residents of Barangay San Vicente in Liloan, where the distribution was held, also received additional attention from the governor.
Baricuatro pledged to provide an industrial ceiling fan for the barangay and repair its roof insulation.

Barangay San Vicente Captain Victor Comendador thanked the governor for the assistance and expressed hope that similar support would reach more communities.
Meanwhile, Wilma Zarraga of Barangay Dapdap, Compostela, welcomed the return of the assistance program for habal-habal drivers in the municipality.
Compostela officials thank Capitol
Compostela Vice Mayor Froilan Quiño also expressed appreciation to the provincial government for including local habal-habal drivers among the beneficiaries.
“May adlaw ra gyud nga makabawos mi nimo, Gov,” Quiño told Baricuatro.
The provincial government said the distribution will continue in other areas of Cebu as part of its efforts to provide assistance to transport workers and other sectors affected by increasing household and livelihood expenses.
The initiative reflects the Capitol’s continuing efforts to bring direct assistance to communities while supporting workers whose daily income is affected by rising operating costs.
Also present during the distributions were Fifth District Board Member Mike Villamor, Capitol department heads, and local government officials.
